It seems like the tritium dial on the Omega Speedmaster from the 90`s is fading, shrinking, and blemishes a lot faster than other tritium dials. I love the color and the way these dials look now, but will it be a problem further down the road.
Current production hands are painted with something called LumiNova, which is a phosphorescent pigment (glow in the dark paint, basically). It charges up from light and glows brighter than tritium, but depletes gradually over about an hour period. The original tritium hands are part and parcel with the look, don't have them replaced.
